Madison Elle Beer from Long Island, New York was an early fan of music. She started posting videos in 2012 that featured her performing covers of popular songs. Justin Bieber, a pop idol, discovered her version of Etta's "At Last" within a short time and posted the song with his more than 25 million fans on Twitter. The publicity that ensued led her to a record contract with Island Records and a management agreement with Bieber's management the next year. At the same time, Beer was also cast as a minor character in the independent film Louder Than Words, which included David Duchovny and made its debut at the film festival in 2013. Her debut single"Melodies," a melismatic, poppy track "Melodies," also saw release late that year.Beer's vocals started appearing on other artists' songs such as Cody Simpson's "Valentine" as well as the 2015 club track "I Willn't Let You walk away" by Mako. In 2018, she released her solo debut EP, "As She Pleases". The single "Home with You" landed in the Top 30 in Norway, while the album landed in the top of the Billboard 200. Beer released the non-album single "Hurts Like Hell" with Offset in the same year.
